Time for another Good News Monday – and this one is a double-whammy!

First of all; renowned author & playwright Jane Harrison joined our agency!

“Jane Harrison is descended from the Muruwari people and is an award-winning playwright, author and Festival director. Jane directed the Blak & Bright First Nations Literary Festival in 2016 and 2019. Her first play ‘Stolen’ played across Australia and internationally for seven years. ‘Rainbow’s End’ was produced in 2005, 2009, 2011 and 2019 and won the 2012 Drover Award. Her novel ‘Becoming Kirrali Lewis’ won the 2014 Black & Write! Prize, and was shortlisted for the Prime Minster’s Literary Awards and the Victorian Premier’s Awards.”

AND … not only has Jane joined the agency, but we’ve also already sold her latest novel; an adaptation of her play ‘The Visitors’ which ran in Sydney in early 2020 before Covid hit. ‘The Visitors’ reimagines the arrival of the First Fleet from a First Nations’ perspective. It has sold to Catherine Milne at Harper Collins, for tentative release in 2023.

Here’s what Catherine Milne has to say on the acquisition; “Jane Harrison’s writing has such power, immediacy and emotion, I am over the moon to be working with her and to be publishing this extraordinary novel in 2023!”

And here’s Jane’s own words on joining JDM and working closely with agent Danielle Binks;
“I saw Danielle Binks in action at various literature events over the years and I liked the way she operated. I trust my gut when it comes to engaging a company to handle my business – I have to have rapport with the other person, and trust in them. My gut has served me well: I am very happy with the level of service and commitment shown by Danielle at Jacinta di Mase and I hope our relationship continues for a long, fruitful time.”
