'Yong' theatre adaptation kicks off!

Posted

It’s been a big year for JDM theatre adaptations of our creator’s work. The latest is monkey baa theatre company’s adaptation of Janeen Brian’s Yong: The Journey Of An Unworthy Son.

And – we’ve got some just-released photos from the production, and a call-out to attend one of the first performances!

After months of incredibly inspiring, collaborative development our brand new production Yong, premieres tomorrow night Her Majesty’s Ballarat!

Yong takes us on a journey across land and sea, from China to the goldfields of Ballarat. Guided by our Artistic Director Eva Di Cesare, 3 phenomenal artists writer Jenevieve Chang , director Darren Yap and performer Wern Mak have shaped a grippingly relevant and moving play. Along with esteemed theatre makers James Browne, Max Lambert, Ben Brockman, Angie Diaz and Zac Saric the production is a beautifully crafted piece for audiences 10-13 years.

A sprawling, dynamic story that explores and celebrates Chinese-Australian history through a timeless coming-of-age story, this is not to be missed.
