Readers and Writers Against the Genocide is an artist community of; ‘Book-lovers who believe in a powerful role for literature to raise awareness & enable others to speak up & be visible with their opposition to genocide.’

Previously Summer Reading for MPs campaign – which gave every federal politician five books to encourage nuance in the Middle East debate. The campaign, which was supported by Australia Palestine Advocacy Network (@apan4palestine) and the Jewish Council of Australia, was known as #SummerReadingforMPs.

Well, the summer’s over. And the genocide continues, with little condemnation and certainly no sanctions by the Australian government.
The organisation have renamed themselves @readerswritersagainstgenocide, and remain steadfast in our belief that there is a powerful role for literature in this moment — to raise awareness of the genocide and to encourage more people to speak up.

Many from Jacinta di Mase Management have joined – and recently appeared in a Melbourne solidarity photograph. Jacinta has been proud to see so many of our clients get involved with the campaign, including Karen Pickering and Clementine Ford who were photographed alongside Jacinta and Aviva Tuffield, Publisher at the University of Queensland Press and one of the fearless organisers of this campaign.

Another JdM author involved is Karen Ginnane, who is part of the organising team behind a new ‘Authors and Artists for Palestine Fundraiser’ that a number of our creatives have contributed items to, including Danielle Binks, Karen Comer, Grace Chan, Clementine Ford, and many more. Please be sure to check it out!

As they say; ‘We know the feeling of uselessness that many good people are experiencing in the face of the current atrocities. We believe that literature can make a difference. Please join us.’
