Walker Books Australia has acquired world rights to two picture books and two graphic novels by Western Australian author Sean E Avery, after he submitted his manuscripts to Walker Wednesday.

Two of Avery’s manuscripts were chosen from over 1200 submissions to the first round of Walker Wednesday in July last year. In 2020 the biannual event saw Walker Books staff review nearly 3000 submissions from new and established Australian and New Zealand writers across its July and November dates.

Walker publisher Linsay Knight said, ‘First sighted when our reading-obsessed team was devouring the 1200 submissions that flooded in from our popular Walker Wednesday call out, [Avery’s] manuscripts shone like beacons and simply could not be ignored. And so we jumped on them as quickly as we could and cannot wait to share them with readers everywhere.’
