Historian, Author, Broadcaster

Clare Wright is an award-winning historian, author, broadcaster and public commentator. She holds an MA in Public History from Monash University and a PhD in Australian Studies from Melbourne University. She has worked as a university lecturer, political speechwriter, historical consultant, screenwriter and television presenter. Clare’s first book, Beyond the Ladies Lounge: Australia’s Female Publicans received critical and popular acclaim.

In 2012, Clare was the writer/presenter of the ABC1 television history documentary, Utopia Girls: How Women Won the Vote. Her definitive and ground-breaking book on women’s role in the Eureka Stockade, will be published by Text in 2013, and Nedwood: True Adventures in Kelly Country (with Alex McDermott) will be published by New South in 2014.
